Library Policies

Collection Policies:

Books: Nonfiction, fiction, children’s and young adult books are loaned for two weeks with renewals available unless a reserve has been placed on the item.

Audio books on CD: The loan period is two weeks with renewals available unless a reserve has been placed on the item. These materials may not be returned via the outdoor book drop, as it causes damage to the material.

Magazines: The loan period is two weeks with renewals available unless a reserve has been placed on the item. 

DVDs: The loan period is 7 days with renewals available unless a reserve has been placed on the item. There is a limit of 5 DVDs per family. These materials may not be returned via the outdoor book drop, as it causes damage to the material.

All materials may be renewed by phone, 570-888-7117.

If the materials are not returned or renewed on time the following fines will be charged as follows:

  • 2 week non-fiction, fiction, children’s/young adult materials, audio books on CD, and magazines  – $.25/day/item
  •  DVDs – $1.00/day/item
  • DVD’s and Audio books on CD placed in outdoor book drop – $2.00/item
  • Backpacks, totes, health boxes – $5.00/day/item

As always, Pennsylvania resident library cards are free. Replacement cards are charged $2.00 and out-of-state cards are $10.00/person.

Internet Use Policies:

The Spalding Memorial Library is providing access to the Internet as a means to enhance the information and learning opportunities for the citizens of the library’s service area. The Board of Trustees has established the Internet use policy to ensure appropriate and effective use of this resource.

Meeting Room Policies:

The meeting room in the basement level of the Spalding Memorial Library is available to the community for public use. This room is accessible by elevator.
